Bees are a vital part of our ecosystem and their populations have been reduced drastically over the last years due to pesticide use. 4 European countries have already banned the worst pesticides and the EU is looking to extend this ban. However they are facing pressure from some of the biggest pesticides producers. If you want to learn more and sign a petition to help support the ban of the most dangerous pesticides, take a look at the Avaaz campaign on saving the bees |

The region of Murcia has a site promoting organic products in the region and it provides extensive lists of outlets for organic produce. The site is http://biorganicfoods.com/ Most of it is in Spanish, but you can always translate the pages with Google translate. This week on the homepage there is a short video from Casa Blancas for learning names of some vegetables in English and Spanish. A very useful part of the site is at the top. If you click on 'Directorio Empresas' along the very top menu bar and then click on 'Búsqueda por producto', a list of all the organic produce with little photos comes up. If you then click on the food you are interested in, for example, ´Frutas ecológicas frescas´, (fresh organic fruit), it comes up with a list of the places and associations you can buy it from in different areas. This way you can find providers really close to you. Thank you biorganic! Welcome to the Organic Murcia Blog. This blog is designed for people interested in organic products in the Costa Cálida area of Spain. If you have any information you wish to share about productos ecológicos in the area, it would be great to hear from you.
